Sam’s Caribbean Marketplace kicks off its 25th year in business with an unforgettable evening called OLD TIME JAMAICAN SOMET’ING: an exciting celebration of Jamaican culture. This fun-filled event takes place on Sunday November 12, 3pm to 9pm. It will feature an abundance of Jamaican dishes, Jamaican music from Mento to Ska to Folk to Rocksteady, and loads of opportunities for audience members to sing, dance and answer trivia questions and win valuable prizes.
Andrew Morris, President of Sam's Caribbean Marketplace and producer of the event, says jokingly, attendees will "eat 'til dem belly full and laugh 'til dem belly buss!"
The evening’s entertainment will feature Jamaica’s First Lady of Comedy Joan Andrea Hutchinson (“Dat Bumpy Head Gal”) as Master of Ceremonies, as well as live music by The T.T.O. All-Stars Band, Braata Folk Singers, Ed Robinson, Carl McDonald, LeRoy Graham Jr., Khalilah Rose, The Voice contestant Travis Finley, actor-singer Kyle Julian, Gospel crooner Stephen Pedley, and legendary dancer Alphanso Castro from JBC-TV’s Teenage Dance Party fame.
Proceeds from this very special event will benefit two worthy Jamaican charities: The Good Shepherd Foundation and Farm Up Jamaica. Advance donation is $55 per adult or $90 per couple. Children 12 and under pay $25.
This is a catered event with extremely limited seating. As such, guests are being encourage to purchase tickets early. All tickets purchased on the day of the event will incur an additional $15 charge.
